Women’s Weekend Russian River, the premier Northern California LGBTQIA+ woman and queer folks, in LGBTQ-friendly Guernville, California is 2 short weekends away on May 16 – 20. We know most of y’all are rolling through with the crew for the river lazing, pool parties, outdoor movie nights, drag shows and more. But what about those who are coming to look for bae or new platonic connections? Women’s Weekend has something for ya’ll too.
For Singles Looking for Love
Kick your weekend off with some romance and playful intrigue with “The Dating Game” on Thursday, May 16, hosted by Butch Charming and Sydni Deveraux. If you’ve ever seen the old “Dating Show” from back in the day, the event might look something like that: a single person chatting gameshow-style with 3 folx looking for love (or a fun date). It;s sure to be a completely cute way to meet someone new who matches some of your key preferences. If you get married, pls make sure we get our invite!
Plus, the Women’s Weekend schedule is stacked with fire events like dance parties (Wild West: A XXX Queer Cowgirl Party pop-up anyone?), pool party moments and cute bonfire vibes. You never know who you might connect with.
Make Platonic Connections That Last
Talk to a few repeat attendees of Women’s Weekend Russian River and you will probably find someone who can tell you about a quick connection they made at the four-day event that ended up turning into a gorgeous friendship spanning years.
“WWRR has been in existence for almost 40 years, and we hear all of the time that people met at the event years ago,” says event co-organizer Tressa Young (aka Madd-Dogg 20/20) (she/her, but he/him in drag). “Now, we are reviving the event. There are so many new people that we hope will look back on WWRR24 with a gleam in their eye because they had such a special time, met or reunited with new and old friends, and built a strong bond that continues all year.”
Lower key events like poker nights around the card game table, ice cream socials at the park, mini glow golf and Karaoke nights tend to be popular nights for friend-finding.
All of the Women’s Weekend hosted events are inclusive events for all LGBTQIA+ femmes and women, including but not limited to trans women, trans men, non-binary, and gender-queer folks.
